IN COLORADO, MOST MISDMEANORS ARE PUNISHABLE BY UP TO TWO YEARS IN JAIL.  A misdemeanor is considered more lenient charge than a felony.  That said a misdemeanor can carry up to two years in jail, significant fines, court costs, fees, protection orders, and in certain cases the loss of the right to bear firearms.
